"On time, within estimate. Excellent work....actually more done than originally explained and agreed. More extensive old drywall removal and repair. The cleanup was quite good, but took us a day to clean to our own standards. All together an very successful experience. Very good workers, who completed work on time and with care."

Historical Building Restorations

Restoring historical buildings has always been a passion for the Owner of Westside Drywall & Insulation, Moe Salem. Just ask any resident of Silverton, Oregon regarding the renovation of the Wolf Building and you’ll probably receive an emotional outpouring of pride and praise over the remarkable work that the Owner and crews of Westside Drywall & Insulation did for their city.

Westside Drywall & Insulation has a crew that specializes in the restoration of old buildings, whether you need partial or complete restoration. During their free consultations, they can discuss with you all areas of restoration including updating the building to current building codes and structural reinforcements, if necessary, improved insulation for energy efficiency, and the recommended materials and details to beautifully restore your unique building, all based on your needs and budget. Some of our past work can be seen in historical Silverton, Oregon:

The Wolf Building

The Wolf Building, the cornerstone historical building on Silverton’s Main Street, was built in 1891 and was going to be condemned in 2004 when Moe Salem jumped in to save it. Extensive and complex restoration were required which included reinforcing the structure of the building as it was threatening to collapse. Once structural reinforcements were completed, the best quality materials and custom details were installed in the buildings’ four apartments and two floors of retail space. From the beautiful hardwood floors to the custom-made wrought-iron staircase and the preservation of the original advertising on the side of the building, the Wolf Building has continued to be a prominent Silverton landmark as it has been for over a century. Many photos and commercials taken in Silverton often have the restored Wolf Building as its backdrop. Because of his incredible work on the Wolf Building, the Owner of Westside Drywall & Insulation received the prominent 2006 Golden Hammer Award by Silverton Heritage for Outstanding Restoration for the Wolf Building AND the 2006 Outstanding Physical Improvement award by the Oregon Downtown Development Association.

The Hartman Building

The Hartman Building, built in 1921, operated as an Auto Dealership and Service Station during the mid 1900’s. Eventually, the building was converted into several storefront shops and offices. Westside Drywall & Insulation’s crew completely renovated the old auto service station on the lower level into the new hotspot, Creekside Bar and Grill. Large picturesque windows and a large deck were added to accommodate patrons as they dine overlooking Silver Creek.

The Salem Building

(Formerly known as the “Brown Building” is now fondly referred to as the “Salem Building” by Silverton citizens in honor of its owner, Moe Salem)
